Dayportrait is made by one person in Vancouver. Every message is read by me.
Bugs, questions, or a day the app drew wrong — send it, ideally with what you expected to see. I answer as fast as one person can.
Using it
Do I have to log all twenty-four hours?
No. A day adds up to twenty-four whether you write it or not — that is arithmetic, not a target. Hours you leave alone are drawn as unwritten and counted as unwritten. Nothing in the app asks you to go back for them, and nothing counts how much of a day you filled in.
How do I write a stretch I already know about?
Hold anywhere on the day canvas and drag across the hours. One gesture covers the whole stretch, and you pick the activity once at the end. You never fill in a form per entry.
Two entries cannot overlap. What happens if I paint over something?
The app tells you what the drag would change before it writes, then trims or splits the neighbours to match. A day always adds up to twenty-four hours, and that rule is enforced when the entry is saved rather than left to the interface.
I left a timer running overnight.
The app notices and asks rather than quietly counting. It offers you a wall-clock end time; keeping the run as it stands is always one of the answers, because keeping is re-askable and ending is not.
Can I change my categories?
Yes — Settings ▸ Categories. Every seeded area and activity can be renamed, reordered or deleted, and there is no cap on how many you add. If a facet is not useful to you, Settings ▸ Facets turns it off.
The app on more than one device
Does Dayportrait sync?
Not yet. The current version keeps your ledger on the device that wrote it. Syncing through your own iCloud account is planned, and the privacy page describes how it will work before it ships.
Pro and payment
What costs money?
Recording never does. There is no cap on entries, activities or categories, and fixing a day is not behind a price. Pro is for reading back. The full list of what Pro adds lives inside the app, on Settings ▸ Dayportrait Pro, so that it can never say something the build does not do.
I paid and nothing happened.
Force-quit and reopen the app: it asks the App Store again on launch. If it still does not show, send me the date and the Apple receipt and I will sort it out.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?
Settings ▸ Dayportrait Pro ▸ Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it.
Your data
Where does what I write go?
Onto your device, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics and no advertising identifier. The privacy page lists what is stored and what the app never asks for.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting the app removes its database with it. There is no copy anywhere else to ask us to delete, because there is nowhere else.
